More Sugar-Free Options for 2020

On March 20, 2020, the ice will be spinning and the syrups will be flowing again! What's even better is that Ohana will be revamping the menu with 4 times more sugar-free options. Everyone deserves to enjoy the sweet, Hawaiian experience of a shave ice, but for those who are diabetic, on a Keto diet, or have other dietary restrictions, consuming all that cane sugar just isn't an option. That's why we have been busy during the off-season perfecting our sugar-free syrup, and what we've come up with is a home run!

New Sugar-Free Flavors

Ohana is offering 12 all-new delicious sugar-free options (up from 3 we offered previously), and we are convinced you will love them!

  • Banana

  • Blue Raspberry

  • Cherry

  • Coconut

  • Cotton Candy

  • Ice Cream

  • Pina Colada

  • Pineapple

  • Strawberry

  • Strawberry Cheesecake

  • Tiger's Blood

  • Wedding Cake

Taste does matter

We wanted to make a sweetener that was not only all-natural but also the best tasting sugar alternative possible. Our new sugar-free syrup is sweetened with the perfect blend of Stevia, Erythritol, and Monk Fruit. The health benefits of these sweeteners has been written about extensively. Not only is our sugar-free syrup Keto-friendly, low calorie, and carb-free, this is the best tasting all-natural simple syrup you can find!

This was not as simple as going to the store, buying a pack of Stevia, adding water, and BAM! Stevia can actually have a bitter after-taste, or it can taste like menthol. As you can imagine, this would change the taste of everything we mix it with. Not only that, but when Stevia, sucralose (Splenda), or other sugar substitutes are used, it can often lead to a thin or watery simple syrup, which does not get soaked up well by the ice. Typical sugar-free syrups are thin (like water-thin) and can quickly flow to the bottom of the cup--even with the finest shave ice. So we aren't simply trying to get it to act like a syrup in consistency, it has been a quest to have it actually taste good.

Ohana means excellence

Sure. We all know that Ohana means family. But this family--Ohana Hawaiian Snow--is committed to excellence. NBA Basketball legend and former coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, Pat Riley, once said, "Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better."

"Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better." -Pat Riley

That's what we are about--always striving to do things, create experiences, and deliver excellence better than we have done before. When a guest steps up to the window at Ohana, we are committed to delivering more than just a frozen dessert. That guest is going to have an experience. One where they can escape the fast-paced culture all around them and enjoy the calming and peaceful pace of the Islands--including the sounds, the smells, the kindness, and the taste. This is reason for this exciting change. We want everyone--including those looking for a sugar-free option--to have the opportunity to experience the aloha of Ohana.
